I'll keep it for it's historical significance, but I certainly won't take it to the range much. After I few shots, I couldn't wait to stop shooting it. Loaded-up the mags and couldn't wait to shoot it. I always wanted to add one to my collection of older guns. I picked one up a few years ago from a local shop. The price isn't really out of line for a traditionally made handgun in excellent condition, despite the fact that it should come with two magazines. The last P1s that were still stored in Germany were in the armouries of reserve units where they had been rarely used. The slide serrations of this slide extend past the end the safety lever.
WALTHER P1 FRAME CRACK HOW TO
How to tell the reinforced or "fat slide" of the post war P38 and P1 by photos. They are a quality handgun however, I don't think the P-1 has much collector's value and for the same money today, you could buy a modern, high capacity pistol such as a Glock or a Springfield Armory or a Smith. Century Arms International 9mm Walther P1 The OP may well have a gun of lesser durability when it arrives. I'd rather shop for later production, stronger shooters. It may be a better gun Decent enough prices, though not of the fantastical variant. As I was paying for my P online, the last one was sold out from under me, so I "settled" for a P1.Ī P1 is a P38 but with some improvements. The later guns that are more durable have more slide serrations and a hex bolt in the frame.īe careful and watch for cracks if you get an earlier gun.

Im suprised there isn't more posts on this great post war pistol they are a great deal and a fun pistol to shoot. The alloy frame is post war and the steel P is war time. So what do other pistol shooters think? Jan 26, 2. Now I am going to have to find another one for my wife. I have never fired a P38 before and wonder about the difference with the steel frame and the alloy frame.īut I really do like this pistol and was wondering what other owners think. Ramen making with a japanese chefĪfter shooting this pistol I have decided that for the money they are being sold for this is probably the best deal going on a pistol. It did shoot about 1 inch low but that could be accounted by the fact that I am still learning the sights. I took it out and shot 9 rounds through it was limited on time at about 25 ft I put all 9 in a spot about 3 inches across, offhand shooting winchester white box gr ammo. There was no wear on any of the pieces or even on the finish edges. In all appearances it had never been fired or even issued.
WALTHER P1 FRAME CRACK SERIAL NUMBERS
As I took it apart to clean it I found that all the serial numbers match and there were no rework stamps on it. A couple of weeks ago I made a trade for one, the pictures looked nice and I really liked my Egyptian Hakim but I really didnt have a use for it and when the offer to trade came up I was excited to do it. I have seen a lot of these advertised over the last few years but just didnt have the money in my shooting budget to buy one. Discussion in ' Walther ' started by oneyeopnJan 26, Log in or Sign up.
